Sad news this month as Sir Patrick Stewart passed away. Sir Patrick Stewart was that rare actor who brought the gravitas and discipline of classical theatre to the worlds of science fiction and fantasy, never treating the material as beneath him. Whatever the role, he brought dignity, intelligence and humanity to it, and while Star Trek: Nemesis may not have been his finest cinematic hour, it marked the final big-screen voyage of one of my personal favourite characters in the genre, the memorable and commanding Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
